Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 24, 2026
This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information in connection with the UGCon™ conference and ugcon.com. When we say “we” or “us,” we mean the Event Organizer.
1. What We Collect
When you register through Luma, we collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Company name
- Job title
Stripe handles all payment processing. We never see or store your credit card or billing info.
At the Event, we collect check-in data to confirm who attended.
The Event will be photographed and recorded — your likeness may be captured if you attend. See our Terms & Conditions for details.
2. How We Use It
- Event management: Processing registration, confirming attendance, sending logistics updates.
- Marketing: Letting you know about future UGCon events. You can opt out anytime.
- Improvement: Analyzing attendance data to make future events better.
- Legal compliance: Meeting our legal obligations.
3. Third-Party Services
- Luma: Registration and attendee management. See Luma’s Privacy Policy.
- Stripe: Payment processing. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
- Vercel: Website hosting.
- Stripe: Payment processing for sponsor bay purchases. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
- PostHog: Website analytics and session recording. See PostHog’s Privacy Policy.
We don’t sell your data.
4. Cookies & Tracking
This website does not set cookies. We use PostHog in cookieless mode to understand general traffic patterns. This includes:
- Page views: Which pages are visited and in what order.
- Referral sources: How visitors find the site (e.g., search engines, social media).
- Device information: Browser type, screen size, and general location (country/region level, not precise).
- Performance data: Page load times and web performance metrics.
- Interactions: Button clicks, scroll depth, and form submissions.
No cookies are set, no data is stored on your device, and no sessions are recorded. All analytics data is anonymous — we cannot identify individual visitors unless they provide their information through registration.
5. Data Retention
We keep your info as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as required by law. To request deletion, email us at legal [at] makeshiftpartners [dot] com and we’ll remove it within 30 days, unless we’re legally required to keep it.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may be able to:
- Access a copy of your data.
- Correct inaccurate info.
- Delete your data.
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time.
California Residents (CCPA)
You can request to know what we’ve collected, ask us to delete it, and opt out of any sale. We don’t sell personal information.
International Attendees (GDPR)
If you’re in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to data portability and to file a complaint with your local data authority. We process your data based on consent (at registration) and our legitimate interest in running the Event.
7. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data. That said, no system is 100% secure and we can’t guarantee absolute security.
8. Children’s Privacy
UGCon is 18+ (minors may attend with a guardian). We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you think we have, contact us immediately.
9. Photo Gallery & Face Matching
After the Event, we publish a photo gallery at ugcon.com/2026/gallery with photos taken at UGCon 2026. Attendees consented to being photographed via the Event's terms of attendance; redistribution of these photos by us and by attendees is permitted under those terms.
How face matching works. The gallery includes an optional “Find yourself in the photos” feature. When you upload a selfie:
- The image is processed in memory by AWS Rekognition to extract a face encoding.
- The encoding is compared against the face encodings of people detected in the event photos.
- The selfie itself is never stored on our servers. The encoding is discarded after the search completes.
- Only matching photo IDs are returned to your browser.
Speakers and panelists on the Event schedule have their photos auto-tagged with their name because they consented to public appearance on stage. Other attendees are never named — face groupings are anonymous unless someone identifies themselves via the selfie-match feature, and even then the identification is only shown to them.
To request removal of a specific photo, all photos containing you, or to opt out of the face-matching index entirely, email legal@makeshiftpartners.com. We’ll process removals within 7 days.
Email captured at download. Downloading an original-resolution photo requires entering an email address, which is added to the UGCon mailing list (event updates, podcast episodes, clips, photos). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any UGCon email.
10. Changes
